Wiggins Cleanup and Restoration

The Community of Wiggins has not always been referred to as Wiggins. Originally referred to as Niles City, in honor of Judge H.C. Niles, unfourtnely  in 1896 that all changed. Once the settlers of Niles City attempted to get a post office in that name they were informed that there was already a Niles City and it was located in Michigan, because of this they would have to rethink the name choice of their town. Shortly after this it was renamed Wiggins in honor of Wiggins Hatten one of the original settlers to the area. A textile city for most of the early years, Wiggins quickly became know as the Pickle City. Since then Wiggins has been known for its pickle production and at one point was publicly announced as the World's Largest Pickle Processing Facility. However the pickle processing plant is now closed. New attractions such as Flint Creek Water Park have come to the area and continue to draw visitors from other cities and towns in the state.
