Magee, MS is located in one of the most significant towns in the heart of the Piney Woods Region of our state. The town was originally named Mangum, after Arthur Mangum until 1859. Willie Magee built a grist mill on Little Goodwater Creek, thus growing the community; it was incorporated as a village in the 1900’s. Robert Solomon Magee was the first Post Master in Magee and this is how the city got its name. The only municipal airport in Simpson County is located in Magee. There are a few historic places to visit such as, the McAlpin House and the Sanatorium. Magee has a healthy growth in businesses, great churches and schools. You can spend a Saturday watching baseball games at the Magee Sportsplex, and then ease over to Windhams Restaurant, known as “Zips” they are known for there world famous zip burger which is made fresh to order, and will leaving you wanting more.
