Republic Missouri is nestled just 14 miles southwest of Springfield, Missouri. The Civil War came to Missouri in the fall of 1861, the Battle of Wilsons Creek was fought 3 miles east of Republic on August 10, 1861. Each fall since 1992 the Republic Pumpkin Daze is held on the first Saturday in October. Giant pumpkins draw participants from the entire regions, vendors gather to show off their arts and crafts as families across the Ozarks gather in celebration of the fall harvest season.
