History of Kimmswick
Kimmswick, Missouri is a small town in the Missouri Bootheel region that was first settled in 1810. The town was known as the "Queen of the Bootheel" until the late 1860s when it was nearly destroyed by floodwaters. After the flood, Kimmswick was rebuilt and became a booming riverboat destination before interest redirected itself towards cotton farming and timber milling. Today Kimmswick's population is only about 1,500 people but it still maintains a certain charm that attracts tourists from all over
