History of High Ridge
High Ridge, Missouri is a town in Jefferson County and one of the oldest settlements in the state of Missouri. It is located on what was once part of the Osage Native American reservation. The town got its name from the ridge it sits on; located just south of the St. Louis riverfront, it was a prime location for early settlers to live among the few hills there were at that time in Missouri. High Ridge, Missouri was settled by Europeans in 1818; they were William and Mary Barratt. However, it wasn't until December 20th, 1837 that High Ridge was incorporated as a town.
