History of Byers
The history of Byers, Missouri starts back in the 1800's. Byers, Missouri was settled by a group of pioneers around 1820. After a failed settlement attempt in 1785, they migrated further south and finally settled in what is now known as Byers, Missouri. They named their new community Crossroads as they came up with it while traveling through Missouri on the way to Arkansas. As time went on, Crossroads eventually became known as Byers after one of its prominent citizens, who would became its first mayor in 1905.
