Belle Plaine, located in Scott County, Minnesota, is roughly 40 minutes southwest of Minneapolis. In the heart of the Minnesota River Valley, Belle Plaine lies where a great river once ran after the receding of the glaciers that left Minnesota with so many lakes. You are actually able to see the ancient river banks as the slopes of the valley rise up on both sides of town.
