Lake George is a small township located in Clare County Michigan. The town sits on the north end of Lake George, a popular all sports lake located in town. Lake George, like many of the towns in the area was founded as a lumber settlement by George Lake.Given its location during the logging area, there was a 7 mile long logging railroad from the town to the Muskegon River and then shipped out to Lake Michigan.  The Lake George area is mainly wooded with an abundance of wildlife including white-tail deer, wild turkey and pheasant. The lake itself houses largemouth bass, perch, bluegill along with other panfish. The population of the area is mixed with original pioneer families and tourists who make Lake George their summer home. The residents there enjoy the Swiss Inn, a large bar, a restaurant and a few small stores.
