Highland MI, officially known as Charter Township of Highland, is located in west Oakland County. Highland Township was founded in 1835 by pioneer families. A large factor in the founding of Highland was the railroad, it allowed for lumber to be imported quickly and gave opportunities for the early businesses of the township to be exported easily. Highland is known for it’s extensive equestrian heritage, the residents of Highland have worked tirelessly to preserve that heritage and in 2006 were officially recognized by the state government as Michigan’s first equestrian community.
Highland is also home to a large all sports lake, Duck Lake. A fun fact about Duck Lake is it is broken up into two connecting sections, “Big Duck” & “Little Duck”. Duck Lake is a private lake, offering access with multiple boat launches to it’s residents. Joe Kocur, former Red Wings player lives in Highland and hosts his charity softball event for his charity “The Joe Kocur Foundation for Children” in Highland yearly. My wife and I just bought our home in July 2018, we experienced our first water loss ever in January 2019. Our washing machine malfunctioned causing a flood in our laundry room, which then went into the kitchen, the half bath, and down into the basement. All flooring had to go, bathroom gutted, laundry room gutted, and basement down to cement. It was a horrible experience but we cant say enough good things about SERVPRO, and their staff. Carolyn and Chad handled everything in the office, and were always available for questions and there was a clear line of communication. Paul handled our demo work, he was clean, and was kind to my wife as she was emotional about everything. Alex worked as our project manager and went above and beyond during construction. 2 months after everything is complete and we could not be happier. We would HIGHLY suggest using SERVPRO of Brighton/Howell if you ever find yourself with a water loss.
