Sebago, Maine is a busy, vibrant community in the beautiful state of Maine. Sebago, Maine is a town on the southern border of New Hampshire, and it straddles the border between Hancock and York Counties. Sebago has been a summer vacation destination since the early 19th century. While the city itself has a population fewer than 1,000 people, the region has about 9,000 residents.

History of Sebago

Sebago is a town located on the border of Maine. It was first settled in 1774, when Thomas Higgins and his family came through the area and established a sawmill on Mill Pond. They also built a gristmill at what is now the village of Sebago Lake Village. In 1780, Colonel Israel Littlefield purchased a large part of the land that is now contained within the town and built his home there. The Sugarloaf Mountain Range provided a source of granite for settlement buildings and monuments. Sebago Lake is also one of the largest lakes in Maine.
