A Brief History of Prouts Neck
In 1631, Captain Thomas Cammock was allowed to complete the "Black Point Patent," which was granted by Plymouth Council for New England. Thomas Cammock was nephew of Earl of Warwick. Cammock built a house in 1635 on the 1,500-acre plot from the Plymouth Council. This area extended from the Spurwink River to Black Point. Today this area is known as Prouts Neck. Unique about this New England town is the fact that it’s still zoned with an 1850s land division that created small farms off an old stagecoach road.
