West Springfield Cleanup and Restoration

West Springfield, often known as the West Side, is a town located in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts and Hampden County and was settled in 1635 and incorporated in 1774. In 2000 West Springfield was finally incorporated into a city. The town's strategic location along the Connecticut River made it an important hub for transportation and commerce. In the 19th century, the advent of the railroad further boosted the town's connectivity and economic activities.

Built in 1754, The Josiah Day House is the oldest brick saltbox in the country and its still on its original foundation! The house is located at 70 Park St. in West Springfield, Ma and is now a museum since the Ramapogue Historical Society was formed in 1902.  You can book a tour to see the artifacts that were left behind, such as linens, china, clothing, paintings, tools and cookware.  

Beginning on April 20, 1775, the West Springfield minutemen participated in the American Revolutionary War, which was the day after the Battles of Lexington and Concord. 

The 20th century brought continued industrial and commercial development to West Springfield. The town evolved with the times, adapting to changes in technology and the economy. The Eastern States Exposition, one of the largest agricultural fairs in the country, has been held annually in West Springfield since 1916. It has become a significant event drawing visitors from across the region.

There have been significant damages caused by weather in West Springfield, Massachusetts. in 1888 the Greet Blizzard occurred and dropped over 5 feet of snow (including 20 foot drifts)! There were also blizzard in 1978 and 1996 that hit our city. A tornado had touched down on June 1, 2011, which left a devastating path through surrounding cities.
