Over 350 years old, the City of Lynn is the largest city in Essex County, Massachusetts.  Originally inhabited by the Sagamore tribe, Lynn was once part of Saugus. Lynn became independent in 1637. The city was named when Samuel Whiting, the first minister, who came to America from King’s Lynn, England.

Manufacturing has been a constant theme in the rich history of Lynn. The town is known for having the first tannery in the US and became known as a hub for shoemaking. Lynn ran the first electrical trolley in the state during the late 1800’s. Lynn’s General Electric Company build the first jet airplane engine.

Today Lynn is a vibrant and diverse community.  It is conveniently located along the MBTA commuter rail and is a short ride to Nahant Beach.
