Amherst Fire Damage and Water Damage
A deed for the land comprising Amherst dates back to 1658, while the area was surveyed in 1665. The area was settled in 1727. The town is named after Jeffrey Amherst, and it celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2009. There are plenty of things to do and enjoy, including historic buildings, museums, and outdoor activities such as the Norwottuck Rail Trail and the Amherst Conservation Area.
The Amherst Chamber of Commerce is an active member of the community, hosting numerous events throughout the year. The chamber welcomes new members on the first Wednesday of each month for a coffee session from 7:30 am to 9:00 am. New members are welcome to drop in for a few minutes or stay to meet members and network. The meeting is held at 35 S Pleasant Street. The 58th Annual Community Breakfast is planned for Tuesday, August 26th, in the Student Union Ballroom, located at 41 Campus Center Way, from 7:30 to 9:00 am.
The Amherst Farmers Market is open for the season, running from Saturdays from 8 am until 1:30 pm, until November 15th. Enjoy locally prepared foods, fresh vegetables, and much more on the Amherst Common. The Jones Library has several branch locations in the city. The Jones Library offers a variety of programs and activities for all age groups. For example, Drop-in Tech Support is available every Thursday, there are teen programs on Saturdays, and sing-alongs with Your Baby programs on Fridays. Check their calendar for more details.
