Ball, Louisiana is a small town north of Pineville. It is named after a steamboat captain that settled there in the 1800's. Captain Ball started a saw mill named Sweet Home Mill. In 1940 Camp Livingston was created as a result of World War 2. Ball saw a huge increase of military families and its population surged to upwards of 40,000 residents. Many stayed after the closure of the base. Today Ball has about 4,000 people within its town limits.
Ball has two elementary schools and many of the students go on to attend Tioga High School. Given the proximity, many of the Ball residents work in Pineville or Alexandria. Ball is a great town to raise a family in. Its close enough to the bigger cities but without having to deal with the associated issues.
