Settled along the banks of the Ohio River sits the small town of South Shore. South Shore was established in the late 1800’s by three families that moved from the nearby Tygart Valley. The residents of this area quickly took part in the development of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and this became the main employer for people in the area.
South Shore is a quaint town currently, with only 1,100 people living within the city limits. The residents in the area enjoy the small charming feel the city has and have tried to keep that charm since the town’s founding families.
