When Newport was first developed, it was called, "Sin City." It had many casinos on one of it's main streets in the Downtown area. In the 1980's and 1990's, they revamped the city to be more of a family-friendly area. In 1999 the Newport Aquarium was built. It is an amazing aquarium. In 2000, the Newport Entertainment Complex opened, Newport on the Levee. It is a very popular place visited by many families. There is so much to offer at Newport on the Levee. There is dining, shopping and entertainment. Newport on the Levee offers a park, AMC theaters, Par 3, Immersive Gamebox, and the aquarium for entertainment. The dining includes a variety of restaurants and ice-cream such as, Cold Stone Creamery, Brio. Brothers Bar and Grill and West 6th Brewery.
