The Bannockburn suburb was founded by Scottish real estate developer William Aitken, who named the area in honor of the village of Bannockburn in Scotland. Aitken’s vision for the 110-acre land parcel was a community of “country estates.” These properties were developed specifically with large lots to emulate country living and entice the affluent members of his bridge and country clubs. The construction of the Bannockburn suburb began in 1924, and by 1929 the community had progressed enough to achieve incorporation. Bannockburn has maintained a deliberately gradual growth since its establishment, taking pains to preserve as much of Aitken’s original “country” character. The construction of the Tri-State Tollway in the 1950s encouraged further development in the Bannockburn suburb, as did the construction of several business parks along the village’s northern edge in the 1960s and a commercial zone in 1984. Municipal services also expanded slowly in an effort to limit residential taxes—Bannockburn established its first police station in the 1970s and its village hall in 1992.

I, and others at EMCO, were impressed with the promptness and professionalism of the crew from SERVPRO of Gurnee & SERVPRO of Libertyville/N. Chicago City/ Lake Bluff. They showed up within an hour and immediately came up with a plan and started working.
After viewing our camera video, we learned the pipe of a large supply line gave way around 7:00 am on Saturday. We did not discover it until 4:00 am Monday. As one can imagine, there was a lot of water. We were grateful SERVPRO came out the same day, arrived promptly, had all their own crews, and equipment readily available to extract the water and dry the large area where the water migrated.
Again, I cannot emphasize this enough, we were super pleased SERVPRO showed up so quick. Tom, and the rest of the crew, were knowledgeable and pleasant to work with.
