Shady Dale is nine miles northeast of Monticello in Jasper County. It was established as a community sometime around 1880. It was originally a Creek Indian village long before the English first arrived. Later it became a local trading post. It is the only other incorporated city in Jasper County. Home to the Shady Dale Rodeo, it's where a population of less than 500 call home.
