Resaca, Georgia located in Gordon County and is a small town that lies along the Oostanula River and just over 1,100 people call home. Originally known as Dublin, the city was founded in 1848 with the arrival of the Western and Atlantic Railroad. In was incorporated in 1854 as “Resacca” with two c’s. However, the name was later changed to Resaca in 1871.
Resaca played a huge role in the Civil War and the Battle of Resaca was fought in May of 1864. Later, Resaca became the location of the first Confederate cemetery in Georgia.
