Being only forty-four miles north of Atlanta Ga, Cartersville has seen a tremendous amount of growth over the years due to urban sprawl. Currently Cartersville is the forty-fourth largest city in Georgia by population wile spanning over twenty-nine square miles. Settled in the 1850's as a railroad town with a population under a thousand Cartersville has grown its population to over twenty-three thousand residents. With that growth came modern infrastructure and a thriving economy. Cartersville now plays host to several museums and attractions like the Booth Western Art Museum, the Tellus Science Museum, Savoy Automobile Museum, a growing restaurant/entertainment scene in the downtown area and historical sites like the Etowah Indian Mounds State Park.
