North Deland is a very small town in the world. The weather and climate here is more temperate than most other places in Florida, so it is not nearly as hot or humid. Also, its geography is unique because if you head north toward the state line, you'll get into some rough mountainous areas which are just outside of North Deland's limits. History of North Deland
North Deland is one of the oldest towns in Volusia County, Florida. The first man to settle in North Deland, Florida was Tom Green. In 1837, Green built a cattle ranch and called it Shingle Bluff Ranch, which stood on what is now Orange Avenue. After Tom Green died in 1841, his wife's brother took over the ranch for 10 years until he moved east. By this time in 1852, settlers began their journey to Florida from all parts of the United States as well as many immigrants arriving by boat from Europe.
