Haile is an unincorporated community in Alachua County, Florida, United States. It is located west of Gainesville, and close to Newberry. Haile Plantation is a village that includes a shopping plaza and 2,700 custom homes, townhouses, apartments and condominiums. The shopping is diverse, from the Blue Bird Boutique, Charm Shoes & Pedicures, and two quality jewelers, Village Jeweler, and Sanders Jewelers. Haile Village features a variety of restaurants, including The Third Place, a full-service bar and restaurant where people gather to meet friends and neighbors in the spirit of British pubs, a specialty ice cream shop, a pizzeria, and The Sisters for Breakfast featuring elegant breakfasts Wednesday through Sunday.
Much of the land used to develop Haile Plantation was a former Sea Island Cotton plantation established by Thomas Evans Haile. The Hailes were a wealthy planter family from South Carolina who moved to the area in the mid-1800s. The developers who bought the land from the Hailes several generations later envisioned and created Haile Plantation as a traditional neighborhood with a village center at its heart in a style known as New Urbanism.
Haile Plantation is also within easy driving distance to many nature parks and other fun outdoor things to do in and around Gainesville. This community was one of Gainesville’s best-selling neighborhoods in 2021.
While Haile is not on the coast of Florida, it still is susceptible to lots of different weather. It experiences wide temperature fluctuations and Florida’s well-known rainy season and thunderstorms.
