Poquonock is a beautiful, historic neighborhood in the town of Windsor, CT. Poquonock roughly translates to "cleared land" or "open land". This name refers to the fertile and open terrain that characterized the area. Originally inhabited by Native American tribes, the area later became home to European settlers who were drawn to its fertile land and abundant natural resources. In the mid-19^th century, the area became a commercial hub as businesses were constructed and thrived while serving new populations who settled in the area to work in the nearby mills and farms.

Today, the neighborhood is a combination of residential, commercial, and special purpose properties. The Poquonock School House and St. Joseph’s Church are among the oldest structures in the area and contribute to the handsome and diverse community. Poquonock has gracefully evolved from a small farming community into a thriving village with a distinct identity and character.
