Nichols Cleanup and Restoration

Nichols is a small village located in greater Trumbull, Connecticut.  The area gets its name from the family that ran a sizable farm in the village's center for about 300 years.  The hamlet was transformed into a bedroom community in 1939 as a result of the building of the Merritt Parkway through it and the subsequent closure of shops and manufacturing. During his productive years between 1928 and 1951, aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky resided in three different residences in Nichols. The Group Theatre from New York City had their summer rehearsals at Pinewood Lake, which was then known as Pine Brook Country Club.
