Palos Verdes Estates is a beautiful little town nestled on the coast of California with views of the pacific ocean that makes every feel like they are a local. SERVPRO of Palos Verdes "is a lifesaver". On Christmas Day the cleanout, [the pipe that transports the water from the house to the sewer,] because of roots, backed up and flooded the downstairs bathroom, hallway (wood floors) and contiguous (carpeted) office ... we dried up with bath towels as much as we could.
After "walking" down the Yelp road, I called them and they came within 2 hours ... analyzed the wetness of the walls and flooring with a handheld instrument and determined that there was water underneath the wood floor [yikes] and the carpet ... I wanted to "dodge" making an insurance claim ... but SERVPRO said that if the water backed came from the cleanout, it was contaminated and the flooring and wet portions of the walls had to be replaced ...
We were lucky ... ["Doc"] Henry from SERVPRO was assigned and he was GREAT ... nice, knowledgeable, patient, and has a good sense of humor ... he knew what to do and explained what he was going to do and why it needed to be done ... over several days he helped us to start the repairs ...
SERVPRO, I hope I never need them again ... but ... is comforting to know there is a responsible company who can help the homeowner with these issues ...
