Catalina Restoration Services

History of Catalina
Catalina, Arizona is a town in Pima County, Arizona. It was first settled as a stagecoach stop in 1877 and incorporated on January 16, 1919. In 1909 the town was named after Catalina Island by the U.S. Post Office, because some of its earliest residents were from the island of Catalina off the coast of California. The first non-Native Americans to settle within what would become Catalina, Arizona were cowboys who took advantage of a natural watering hole formed by artesian springs. The location was perfect for grazing cattle, and they eventually built the townsite that became Catalina, Arizona.
