The city of Danville, also known as Houstons Store, is located in the Northern part of the state of Alabama in Morgan County. It is included in the Decatur metropolitan area and the larger Huntsville-Decatur combined statistical area. The area is home to the Jesse Owens Memorial Park, which boasts a museum and other attractions dedicated to the legendary Olympic athlete who was originally born in nearby Oakville, Alabama. Danville is also home to the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center. The center encompasses a Cherokee council house museum, a portion of the Black Warriors' Path, the largest Woodland ceremonial Indian mound in Alabama, and a large Copena Indian burial mound. 

Danville appeared on the 1870 U.S. census with a population of 117 people. This was the only time it appeared on the U.S. census rolls. Today, Danville has a population of roughly 5,000 people.
